You may have heard of stinkbugs, but likely do not know much about them, but if you are experiencing an infestation of them you can rely on the pest control services of Nassau County Pest Control to solve the problem for you.
They are usually found infesting gardens, orchards, and farms. They are agricultural pests and can be a pain to get rid of. Stinkbugs can also be found in lawns, landscaped materials and parks. It isn’t unusual to find stinkbugs, they are very common and are not isolated to one geographical location within the U.S.
They also do not have a specific time of the year to reproduce. They reproduce throughout the entire year. However, they usually begin reproducing during warmer months of the year. The adult stinkbug can often be found under weeds, stones, and boards during the winter.
You may begin to notice more of them during the springtime because this is when they become most active. Once they come out of hiding, they will begin to eat whatever plants are around them. They eat stems of weeds, leaves, wild plants and grass. They also deposit their eggs on backs of leaves.
Stinkbugs pinch the plant that they are eating in order to extract the juice from it. At this time, they also inject saliva inside the plant. This is toxic and will kill its cells. If a stinkbug begins eating fruit that has not yet ripened, it will develop a scar. The scar gets larger and this changes the appearance of the fruit.
The stinkbug will start looking for a place to hide during the winter once the summer ends. You might notice them on the side of your home and sometimes inside your home if there are any cracks or small crevices for them to crawl through.
Our exterminators at Nassau County Pest Control can identify these areas and seal them up to prevent you from developing an infestation of stinkbugs.
